The Antwerp James Joyce Centre is occupied
with numerous projects, most important of which is the genetic study of
Finnegans Wake and its notebooks. We are primarily engaged in the
transcription and annotation of the Finnegans Wake notebooks. Other
projects involve: a comparison of Joyce's genetic practice with those of
Marcel Proust and Thomas Mann; the influence of Joyce's work on Dutch literature;
and the preparation of a Finnegans Wake encyclopaedia. We give advice
for theatrical and musical performances based on Joyce's work. We prepared
the Dutch translation of Exiles for the Kaaitheater production in
1993 (with a second series of performances in the Fall of 1994). In addition
we conduct a lecture series on Joyce at the University of Antwerp. In May
1997 we staged a conference on the genetic criticism of Joyce entitled
"Genitricksling Joyce."
The main purpose of this home-page is to make available articles by
Joyce Centre members on the genetic study of Finnegans Wake. We
have also prepared a Bibliography of the Genetic
Criticism of Joyce. These are all available in the Articles
On-Line.
For more information in Dutch about the activities of the Antwerp James
Joyce, we refer to the Gnantwerp Gazette.
