FWAKE-L ARCHIVES

A great deal of genetic work on Finnegans Wake has appeared on the FWAKE-L e-mail list. Some of this work eventually gets published in some form, but for a variety of reasons not all of the work here appears in print. Fortunately the discussions are archived and can be downloaded. The informal, in-progess and communal nature of the work should not obscure the fact that these postings contain many stimulating discoveries and interpretations. For this reason I'm including a listing of the FWAKE-L archives in the bibliography of genetic criticism. This is based on a list that was compiled by Jorn Barger (jorn@mcs.com) and was posted on FWAKE-L (20 August 1996): it contains instructions on how to download FWAKE-L archives and, more importantly, a partially annotated index of what these archives contain. I have added a few of my own recommendations and annotations to Jorn's, but the annotations are still far from complete. I am grateful to Jorn for allowing me to post this list here.

Contents:

FWAKE-L information; Jorn's recommendations; Sam's recommendations; Index-key
Index for: 1988; 1989; 1990; 1991; 1992; 1993; 1994; 1995; 1996
Return to Bibliography

Subscribers to FWAKE-L can request files by sending email to listserv@listserv.hea.ie with a message like:

get fwake-l LOG9301A
get fwake-l LOG9301C
get fwake-l LOG9311B

You can get an unannotated list of all available files by sending the following message to the listserv: "index fwake-l."

There's a limit to the number of files you can request every 24 hours--the maximum is probably five. The longest single file is 8906 lines-- about 200 pages-- so don't be too greedy!

If you don't already subscribe to FWAKE-L, then all you have to do is send a message to the listserv with the following message "subscribe fwake-l" (a subject-line is unnecessary). To unsubscribe to FWAKE-L, you send the following intutive message to the listserv: "unsubscribe fwake-l."
